First National Green Schools Seminar with FSEER offering Duro-Last and Solar PV

Well a couple of weeks ago I was at the First National Green Schools Seminar. It was super, people from the green learning community from all around the USA were there. I was a little annoyed that there was only one booth talking about wind power there and there was only one booth that was talking about Solar Power. The wind power group was a non profit based out of MN that sells kits to teach children about wind power and energy. They had a double booth and alot of great information. The booth that had info on Solar Power was Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing. They had pictures and lit about solar PV and about green roofing systems. They also had a great demo about White roofs and the PVC product Duro-Last the owner talked about a white roof being the highest energy star roof you can put on and Duro-Last being a totally recyclable green product. I was happy to find info on solar, white roofs and wind. The Will Steger group was also there and Will gave a great talk. The Dr.Oz  HealthCorps was there talking about  healthy food and lifestyle habits for kids as well as Philippe Cousteau Sr.,  the grandson of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau. It was a great show and alot of learning happened by everyone who attended.

FIREFOX FIRESHEEP that right free download for Fire Fox CAlled Fire Sheep it will allow users on an open network to see what all other users are doing on non secure sites. On facebook you can enter another persons page and access it just as if you were the person who logged in. You can get a block for Fire SHeep through firefox otherwise everyone on an open network is game. Its cool but also scary for the possible loss of personal data but in the world of the net what can we consider personal anymore? almost noting, so you might as well let it all hang out and embrace the world of openness.

Duro-Last VS Sarnafil VS Syntec PCVS and how they compare

Well I was doing a little research this week and wanted to see how the other cool white roofs stack up. I compared Duro-Last , Sarnafil , and syntec. All look basically the same from a distance, all are a PVC based product, all are reinforced with a scrim, will not continue to burn when flame is not present and will not degredate because of animal fat. After that they start to separate Sarnafil and Syntec are rolled goods while Duro-Last is factory premanufactured and heat welded to size before shipping.  They all are energy star roofs but they differ by a couple of points of reflectivity with Syntec being the lowest at 77 and Duro-Last the highest at 87.5 They all offer an option for a green growing roof and all can partner with solar installers for a super green roof.  The warranty is where they really differ Duro-last has a 15 year no cash limit warranty standard while the other two have differing warranty times 5-20 years that offer different options depending on how much you want to pay. Duro-Last is made all in the USA while Sarnafil and Syntec are made other places and sold worldwide. All are good choices for a cool white roof and will save you money in the long run. The last point that differs is the reinforcement of the Scrim the Duro-Last is cross woven while the others are not which makes it stronger. In a pull test i could not rip a section of  pre ripped Duro-Last while the same could not be said for the Syntec or Sarnafil. As a note I love that Sarnafil did the roof on Mpls Target center under the 5th Largest green roof in the USA and 10th largest in the world.  So its up to you figure out what you want and do it but whatever you do get a white roof and maybe some Solar.

Duro-Last PVC FIRESTONE TPO and EPDM

An evaluation of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) single-ply membrane roofing systems (Technical report)
So I have been doing some checking into Duro-Last PVC and how it stacks up with two Firestone versions of TPO and EPDM. I picked Firestone because they are known for quality and have white TPO and EPDM. The first thing that is great is that they are all cool white roofs. They all have high solar reflectance and will save you money however Duro-Last has by far the highest. Second  only Duro-Last can withstand Animal fat TPO and EPDM will basically get eaten alive by Animal Fat. When it comes to ponding water Duro-Last wins to with its fully ponding water covered 15 year no dollar limit warranty. Both other products warranty are void with ponding water. Then there is the fact that Duro-Last manufactured over 85% in factory with few seams vs the other two being rolled goods that have nothing but seams. There is also the Fire risk of roofing some roofs can catch fire and cause the entire building to burn. Duro-Last will not continue to burn once the flame is not in contact with it while TPO and EPDM not to mention BUILT ROOFS will continue to burn until they are gone once flame is in contact with them. Lastly are the reinforcement the TPO and EPDM didnt come close to Duro-Last which is reinforced with scrims cross threaded for strength. If it is up to me I will choose Duro-Last every time for quality, energy savings , and consistency.

Home Solar Panel array - real life example

Green and White Duro-Last roofing with Solar PV thru FSEER

We are working hard this month to do more green roof jobs. If you didnt know Duro-Last is a certified Green Globe and LEED product. Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing did the largest solar PV install in Mn History we did a massive roof that would take many homes and businesses off the grid. We are also working in Solar thermal, Wind micro turbines, and Geothermal.
If you want to know why you need a white roof just go outside on a hot day and check out the inside of a white car or a black car the white car will be cool and the black car will melt you when you get inside it. This is how white roofs work they keep you and your building cool instead of heating up like traditional black roofs. There are differing types of white roofs you can get you can get a white TPO, EPDM or PVC. I like PVC because it can be 100% recycled and does not leach into the environment.
I am super excited for the fall and all the super cool roofs we are working on and the MN state fair. I always love to stop by the Green Roofs booth and see what they have and what people are asking about them. MN is really coming along with lots of green roofs.
DO you go to the state Fair? if you do www.fseer.com has a special. If you get a roof bid between now and the Fair you get 6 free corn dogs just for checking them out.

DURO-LAST COOL WHITE ROOF MN

DUro-Last and Johns Manville

Greetings from Duro-Last world. We have been very busy around the midwest putting the worlds best cool white roof on lots of huge buildings. This week we have been reviewing Johns Manville ,  FiberTite Roofing Systems , GAF Materials Corporation ,  and Carlisle-SynTec just to name a few. We are the worlds best installer of the Duro-Last roofing system and we love to get it into the spec's for new construction We have been working with Dodgeview and Bid Clerk to get the new sales staff really rolling. We have been conducting online polls to see what really matters to clients when they get  a new roof and what they like or what went wrong when they had their last roof put on. We are working with the Duro-Last roof and Installing lots of Solar PV and Solar Hot water systems. We are also offering wind micro turbines. But you dont need either to see that the Duro-Last cool white roof will save your money from HVAC costs just look at your power bill. In MN a Duro-Last roof can save you a boat load but where it can help even more is where there is high AC demand year round. Lets not forget how a cool white roof can help stop global warming. Happy Sunday

Happy Friday with a side of DUro-last and Sarnafil from solar power in mn

Well its a great warm day in mn. I have been doing some research with white roof systems that work well in mn. I came up with the conclusion that Duro-Last and Sarnafil are two of the top options. They both are white and carry a high  envery star status. They have high reflectivity and last a long time with a good warranty. Duro-last is made in custom sheets in factory up to 2500 sq feet white Sarnafil is a rolled good that can be sized to any job fully welded on site. They are both a PVC blend with a scrim inside. In testing them the duro-last seemed to be harder to  pull apart after an initial but but both were strong. Duro-last come in 40 up to a special 100 mil while Sarnafil comes  in 60-80 mil in standard rolled goods. Being a PVC with flame retardants neigher will burn after being pulled away from a flame in a burn test and both have additives so molds will stay off them. I also like the way both work well with solar PV installs and the high reflectitvity works well with the Solyndra 360 spiral solar cells. Either would be a great choice in Mn for a COOL WHITE ROOF with SOLAR.

Solar and wind power in Mn

SO I am sitting at home watching a live stream on organic farmers on social media. I was like was we all do social media maybe we should spend more time with people and less time with our computers and build rock solid hand shake relationships rather than electronic relationships. Another if but, what if we could no longer have power very few people would have working computers and there would be no www. ALthough google is buying massive amounts of solar from solyndra and first solar to they can stay online even in a big power out. IF you dont believe in solar how does that sit with you? The picture in this post is an example of the PRODUCT RED campaign, this sign was at starbucks and you can make yourself part of product red. I though it was cool

Greetings From Minnesota

Sunforce 50044 60-Watt Solar Charging KitWell you all know that I work in Green and solar roofing. I have been working with wind micro turbine tech to get us running with more power options. I love working in renewable energy. I think the future is going to be little to no use of grid power. Sole power for individual homes and buildings will help to take us all off the grid an less prone to power outtages caused by any natural disaster our possible war or attacks. I also think the new investment market is going to be heavily based in renewable energy and new technology that is less based on coal run markets and more on the new clean teach world. I follow some trends in Nano Tech and new trends. I got an Ipad the first day on the market. But I still do some things old school, I like to read the paper in paper form. The New paper's keep trying to sell us on the Eedition but I like to see and feel the paper every morning. I am not alone. Although we can recycle the paper its still less environmentally friendly than the e-edition but I still like to read it on paper. I work by a little ice cream store that is run on nothing but solar power on their roof. How sweet is that Ice Cream from the sun. I love it, I will even pay more to shop somewhere that they use the sun to power the shop. I personally buy all my power from my power company from wind source power. Its something you can do today and its super easy. The more people make informed purchases the more we can change the world together. Its like the product RED campign, Wear RED, BUY RED, THINK RED and it will help fight AIDS HIV around the world. We need Bono to help with solar power around the world next. What do you think?

Raining in MN Duro-last installers are wet

Well its raining again today. We have some guys out installing Duro-Last cool white roofs on a Green Globe project but I think they are getting all wet. I am a little sad about the rain because I wanted to go on a training ride when I get of work for th Mn Red Ribbon Ride. But I will just do a cardio workout at home one the treadmill. I did do my weights at the YWCA this morning I hit 150 per side on the cable fly and 1300 pounds on the leg sled getting back up to my max of 2000 about a year ago. My back is still not great but I hope it gets better as I wok on rehabing it. If you didnt know a highshcool kid rear ended me about 2 years ago and cause some problems. Thank god I was driving my volvo. I love volvo for LIFE. We have a Bmw now to but I think when it goes I will get an s40 or something. IF anyone is free this weekend I am hosting a tupperware party thats giving 40% to the RRR so its a sweet deal if you need any. AHH cell phone is lighting up gg.

Duro-Last Green Globe and LEED MN SOLAR

So here is the deal. if you want a cool white roof you have only a couple of choices. You can Get Duro-Last or Sarnifil. But only one is under the biggest solar PV install in mn and thats Duro-Last. There are many types of solar you can put on your roof for instance
Crystalline Silicon
The highest efficiencies on silicon have been achieved on monocrystalline cells at 22-25%

Thin-film solar cells
there are 3 main types of thin film solar Cadmium telluride solar cell, Copper-Indium Selenide, Gallium arsenide multijunction, they average 18% efficiencies

Multiple-junction solar cells
The record for multiple junction solar cells is disputed. Teams led by the University of Delaware, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, and NREL all claim the world record title at 42.8, 41.1, and 40.8%, respectively.

If you want a cool white roof check Out Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing Inc. They also do micro wind turbines like the Parker's Spiral Air Foil Wind Turbine
Smaller scale turbines for residential scale use are available, they are usually approximately 7 to 25 feet (2.1–7.6 m) in diameter and produce electricity at a rate of 900 to 10,000 watts at their tested wind speed. Some units have been designed to be very lightweight in their construction, e.g. 16 kilograms (35 lb), allowing sensitivity to minor wind movements and a rapid response to wind gusts typically found in urban settings and easy mounting much like a television antenna. It is claimed that they are inaudible even a few feet (about a metre) under the turbine. Dynamic braking regulates the speed by dumping excess energy, so that the turbine continues to produce electricity even in high winds. The dynamic braking resistor may be installed inside the building to provide heat (during high winds when more heat is lost by the building, while more heat is also produced by the braking resistor). The location makes low voltage (around 12 volt) distribution practical.

I think it would be sweet to have a home that runs off its own solar and wind power and then sell the extra energy back to the electric company at a high peak rate and make money off of being green. It is now super easy. check out www.fseer.com and there is alot more information or check out my youttube channel at www.youtube.com/gaberedribbon

what ever you do it is the time to change the way we thing and live for the environment and to save money and power.

Great Weekend in Mn

Well its been one heck of a weekend. Snow friday night so I had to bring the flowers in. Then driving to Fulda Mn today and back up to the cities. No doing my tweeting and youtube stuff. On to tomorrow I am going to make breakfast for my wife. On mothers day we usually do breakfast together then go our own ways to see our own mothers. For breakfast I will make Bacon, eggs with cheese and spicy breakfast hash browns, Oj and bagels. I got some nice gifts for my wife, mother, mother in law and grand mother. I hope the day clears up and gets nice tomorrow. We are all planning on being outside but its not going to happen if it snows tonight and stays cold.
